The Vietnamese government has announced a detailed roadmap aimed at positioning the country as a leading hub for blockchain technology. The roadmap includes a five-step action plan that will lead to legal reforms and the establishment of international cooperation for blockchain research and development. According to government estimates, if this plan is strictly implemented, Vietnam could become the center of blockchain innovation in Southeast Asia by 2030.
According to a report by a government-backed Vietnamese publication, Vietnam plans to cultivate 20 blockchain brands covering different service and operational fields over the next seven years, based on the “National Blockchain Strategy”.
To achieve this goal, Vietnam will focus on training and developing human resources in this relatively nascent technology. Additionally, the authorities plan to build a network of blockchain testing centers across the country.
A roadmap drawn up by Vietnamese officials outlines the creation of a blockchain industry ecosystem, facilitating the adoption of blockchain solutions in various sectors.
Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communications, Ministry of Education and Training, and Ministry of Science and Technology will play key roles in implementing these plans. The Vietnam Blockchain Association also plans to collaborate with these ministries to accelerate research and development on distributed ledger technology (DLT).
The plan was finalized by Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Trinh, Dangcongsan.vn reports.
“The Prime Minister’s recently announced National Blockchain Strategy is a significant milestone in the blockchain space and represents the Government’s commitment and concrete actions in promoting a transparent, secure and sustainable digital economy, as well as the community’s It shows effort.” The report quoted Phan Duc Trung, vice president of the Vietnam Blockchain Association, as saying.
This development comes on the heels of Vietnam officially recognizing digital assets as a type of intangible assets and giving them legal protection under a newly introduced legal framework.
Vietnam also launched a blockchain and AI academy in May, with plans to train 1 million residents in emerging technologies.
