Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phuc has just announced a full-fledged national strategy for blockchain development. The initiative, announced on October 22 and officially named Decision No. 1236/QD-TTg, marks a serious step towards establishing the country as a regional powerhouse in blockchain technology.
The strategy aims to be fully realized by 2025 and represents a highly ambitious vision to transform Vietnam’s digital infrastructure through blockchain innovation. For leaders, this technology represents the building blocks of the next industrial revolution, ensuring greater data security and reliability while ensuring further growth in the digital technology sector.
The official document further states that the promotion and application of blockchain technology will help bring digital infrastructure to an advanced stage.
The Vietnamese government’s ambitious program is presented as a five-pronged approach, including legal framework development, infrastructure, human resources, application facilitation, and international cooperation.
What is notable about this initiative is the government’s collaborative approach, involving multiple agencies such as the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Government Cryptography Board, the Ministry of Education and Training, and the Ministry of Science and Technology. The inclusion of the Vietnam Blockchain Association (VBA) as a key stakeholder demonstrates the government’s commitment to working with industry experts.
VBA Vice President Phan Duc Trung said the strategy is a major milestone towards building a “transparent, secure and sustainable digital economy”.
