The founder and CEO of stablecoin company Tether (USDT) said whoever wins the next US presidential election should support the growth of cryptocurrencies.
Paolo Ardoino said in an interview that while the United States has always been the world’s undisputed leader, this is not the case when it comes to cryptocurrencies.
“The United States has always been a leader in technological development in every field, but I think this is the first time in history, growing up, that I’ve seen the United States drop the ball.”
Ardoino said one of the issues he hopes the next U.S. president will address is cryptocurrency regulation.
“Whoever wins the election, I hope that crypto regulation, including smart crypto regulation and stablecoin regulation, will be implemented in a way that protects end users and allows this amazing technology to thrive and become the best in the world. I think it’s really important that we help out.” It’s a lifeline for hundreds of millions of people who don’t have the same opportunities as people in the United States and Europe. ”
He said US crypto regulation will have a major impact around the world.
“The United States has a very important role to play in this conversation. Every regulator in the world is going to look to the United States to regulate. So I hope that happens soon.”
