Prominent members of the Dogecoin community took to X to express their excitement. Doge designer (@cb_doge), who frequently interacts with Mr. Musk, exclaimed: The moment Doge showed up in his CyberCab, he said, “I can buy it!” ”
Another influential figure in the DOGE community, Sir Doge of the Coin (@dogeofficialceo), expressed the importance of this moment: “Tesla featured Doge the Shiba Inu in its robotaxi unveiling video.” Community member Đoge420 (@dogecoine420) echoed this speculation and questioned whether DOGE would be accepted as payment for a new car. . “Wait, did Elon say you could buy a Tesla CyberCab with Dogecoin? The moment Doge showed up in the CyberCab, he said, ‘You can!’ ” she wrote.
Nevertheless, Astro (@Astro1062) highlighted the mysterious nature of Tesla’s announcement. “There is zero information from Tesla on how to pay for CyberCab rides as it could be available in 2026. There is zero information from Tesla about XPayments from X and zero information from Starlink about XPayments. ” Collaboration with Dogecoin. It’s too quiet. ”
new tesla cyber cab
Elon Musk showed off the CyberCab during a presentation on a Hollywood movie set and arrived in one himself. He argued that while cars “do nothing” most of the time, self-driving cars could be five, or even ten times more useful.
The CyberCab is a two-seater vehicle with scissor doors without a steering wheel or gas pedal, highlighting its fully autonomous driving capabilities. The interior reflects the minimalist design of Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y, with a large touchscreen in the center. In particular, Cybercab is designed for inductive wireless charging, eliminating the need for traditional charging connections.
Specific technical details such as range, battery size and charging speed were not disclosed, but Musk hinted at an ambitious production schedule. Production is expected to begin in 2026, and the vehicle is expected to cost less than $30,000. Musk envisions operating a fleet of Tesla self-driving taxis that can be accessed through a dedicated app, reducing transportation costs to $0.20 per mile. This is significantly lower than the average of $1 per mile for city buses.
In addition to the CyberCab, Musk unveiled the RoboVan, a self-driving minibus that can carry up to 20 passengers. The event also highlighted the progress of Tesla’s humanoid robot project, Optimus. This group of humanoid robots appeared and demonstrated their capabilities. Musk says his company has made great strides with Optimus. He envisions these robots becoming essential to society, with an expected cost of $20,000 to $30,000.
Mr. Musk has long touted self-driving cars as a cornerstone of Tesla’s future, and previously hinted that Tesla owners could deploy their cars as part of a robotaxi network to generate income. .
DOGE price reaction will not materialize
Although no official announcement has been made regarding Tesla accepting Dogecoin as payment for CyberCab or other services, the appearance of the Shiba Inu mascot has reignited discussions about possible integration between Tesla and cryptocurrencies. Musk’s history of influencing Dogecoin’s value through social media tips and endorsements lends weight to community speculation.
However, DOGE has not responded in any meaningful way. DOGE is up 1.4% over the past 24 hours, which is roughly in line with general crypto market sentiment. At the time of writing, Dogecoin was trading at $0.10845.
