Billy Marcus, known on social media as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, who created the original meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin with Jackson Palmer in 2013, has published a tweet that talks about the mysterious Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto and the recently publicized He mentioned an HBO documentary about him.
The documentary, called “Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery,” was released over a week ago and shocked the cryptocurrency market after it “revealed” the true identity of Bitcoin’s creator. However, many of the early Bitcoiners, including Marcus and cypherpunk Adam Bach, who was mentioned in the Bitcoin White Paper, disagreed with the conclusions drawn by the film’s producers.
The real Satoshi ‘revealed’ in ‘Money Electric: Bitcoin Mystery’
The makers of this documentary featured and interviewed a number of “candidates” who they believed could be Satoshi Nakamoto still alive. Ultimately, the director came to the conclusion that digital gold was created by early Bitcoin developer Peter Todd.
However, Todd denied this and even criticized the director for putting his and his family’s lives at risk. Many of the early bitcoiners, including JAN3 boss Samson Mo and Blockstream founder Adam Back (both interviewed in the film), have no idea who Satoshi really was (or who he was). He tweeted that the world will never truly know.
Moe suggested that Nakamoto knew that if Bitcoin was successful in the future, “they would come after him,” possibly referring to regulators and law enforcement. It seems that. Before the film’s release, the majority of Polymarket users were betting that Len Sassaman would be revealed as Satoshi.

Satoshi ‘changed the world forever’: DOGE co-founder
In 2021, Elon Musk hypothesized that Bitcoin was created by Nick Szabo. As for Billy Marcus, he also shared his thoughts on the documentary after its release, saying he believes Bitcoin was created by “Hal Finney and his friends.” Finney was also an early Bitcoin developer and the first person to receive a BTC transaction from Satoshi himself as a test. He passed away in 2014 from a terminal illness.
Commenting on the important role that Bitcoin’s founder and its creators have played in the world, Marcus responded to user @dogeofficialceo’s playful confession about being a “Shitoshi Nakapoopoo” by saying, “You’re It changed the world forever.”
