TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – A company that bills itself as the world’s fastest growing cryptocurrency platform has moved its North American headquarters from Miami to East Texas.
Singapore-based Crypto.com operates a new office in the Plaza Tower in downtown Tyler. The company was founded in 2016 and serves more than 80 million customers, according to its website.
“I just put a Texas license plate on my car,” said James Grabow, president of Crypto.com North America.
Grabow said the Dallas area was attractive because the company wanted to be located in the heart of the United States when considering relocating its Miami office.
“We found Tyler during a search around Dallas,” Grabow said. “We visited and found Tyler to be a great city with a Class A office building (Plaza Tower) and a lot of young talent driven by UT Tyler.”
Grabow said the political environment is also an important consideration in supporting business operations.
For now, the new office in Tyler is home to Grabow and another local employee. Although many of the company’s employees are remote, the new office can accommodate about 20 people and has room to grow beyond that. Further employment opportunities are expected in the near future, along with internship and mentorship opportunities for students.
“People come here every day,” Grabow said. “Not everyone does it every day.”
The company has increased its presence in recent years by partnering with the UFC, FIFA, and Formula 1 racing. They also have naming rights to what was once known as Staples Center in Los Angeles.
