China’s first blockchain-themed market opened in Shanghai on Thursday to connect the demand and supply of blockchain technology across various industries.
The first Blockchain Scenario Market, focusing on the integration of technology and medical services, was held at Blockchain Valley in Jing’an District.
This marketplace aims to create a platform for blockchain companies to showcase their solutions, while companies from different sectors can explore blockchain-based applications.
Wang Yi, Chairman of the Shanghai Blockchain Technology Association, highlighted the potential of blockchain to increase efficiency, transparency, and value across industries.
“Blockchain can reduce costs and risks for enterprises, drive innovation, and transform traditional industries,” Wang said. He emphasized its importance in supporting new economic growth and strengthening Shanghai’s competitiveness.
Several companies participated in the event, including SimMed, a leader in medical blockchain and big data solutions.

Feng Donglei, general manager of SimMed, said blockchain applications in healthcare are wide-ranging, including sharing electronic medical records, tracking prescriptions, and medical research.
“Blockchain can help address issues such as data collection and monitoring, and make health services more transparent and efficient,” Feng said.
Another major participant, Winning Health, also sees blockchain as an important tool for the healthcare sector.
Guo Jianfeng, a strategic consultant at Winning, said the decentralized and secure nature of the technology offers new possibilities to improve clinical trials, insurance claims and healthcare data management. “Blockchain is reshaping how data is handled in healthcare,” Guo said.
The Market Platform allows businesses to connect directly with blockchain providers, accelerating the adoption of new applications. The initial event will be followed by further thematic markets promoting the role of blockchain in various industries.
