Bitcoin development continues to progress towards the release of core version 28.0. This update significantly improves security, performance, and compatibility, making the BTC network more robust and decentralized.
New features in Bitcoin Core 28.0
One of the major new features of this version is the patching of a critical vulnerability that affected approximately one-sixth of Bitcoin nodes. This flaw could enable a denial of service (DoS) attack, potentially jeopardizing network stability. Thanks to this update, the security of the nodes has been significantly strengthened, reducing the risk of attacks and improving the reliability of the entire network.
Bitcoin Core 28.0 also brings significant performance improvements. The number of peer connections has been increased to 125 by default, strengthening Bitcoin’s decentralized structure. Additionally, this version supports reproducible builds, increasing transparency and trust within the community. Users can now ensure that the code they are running is actually the code published by the developer and has not been maliciously modified.
This Bitcoin version 28.0 also supports Testnet4 according to the BIP94 specification. This new version of testnet is intended to replace Testnet3 in a future release, although the latter is still supported for now. Additionally, the default Windows data directory has been moved to improve file management and compatibility with modern operating systems.
More favorable adoption of BTC
These security and performance improvements could accelerate Bitcoin adoption. Increasing the trust and transparency of the network increases user and investor trust, which is essential for the expansion and widespread acceptance of cryptocurrencies.
Finally, Bitcoin Core version 28.0 represents a major advancement for BTC. Users are encouraged to update their software to take advantage of these new features and contribute to network security and decentralization.
